Levan Davitashvili Met with Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan

First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili met with the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov. The meeting was held within the World Tourism Day of the United Nations Tourism Organization.

The Ministers discussed the priority directions of trade and economic relations of the two countries paying special emphasis to deepening cooperation in the field of tourism. It was noted that Uzbekistan is one of the growing tourist markets for Georgia, which had a positive effect on the dynamics of tourist flows between the countries.

It was noted that in 2023, was Uzbekistan ranked fourteenth in terms of the number of foreign visitors to Georgia - the growing dynamics continued in 2024, and in the first half of the year, by 27% more visitors from Uzbekistan visited Georgia compared to the same period of the previous year.

Strengthening of cooperation in such sectors as transport, logistics, trade, port infrastructure, processing industry, textiles, etc. were also covered during the meeting. It was noted that during the recent years, there has been more developments of the relations between the countries, which has a positive impact on the further cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan.

After the meeting, a cooperation program was signed between the tourism agencies of Georgia and Uzbekistan. It is planned for the years 2024-2026 and includes the exchange of the best experiences in the field of tourism between the countries, the exchange of information about the planned events, as well as the settlement of the tourist circles of the two countries.
