Levan Davitashvili at Turkish Şişecam Mina New Investment Project Opening

Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili participated in the opening ceremony of the new investment project of JSC Mina, a member of the largest Turkish company Şişecam Holding.

By investing 19,4 million euros in the Georgian glass tare production enterprise of , the process of updating one of the furnaces of the enterprise and equipping it with the latest technologies was successfully completed. According to the representatives of the company, the involvement, vision and support of the Enterprise Georgia Agency were extremely important in the investment process.

Vice Prime Minister noted that Georgia and Turkey have had especially close trade and economic relations for many years, and it is welcoming that these relations are growing year by year.

Davitashvili also expressed hope that various mechanisms for encouraging investors in Georgia will further contribute to the deepening of trade relations between the two countries.

Şişecam is one of the most famous Turkish companies in the world, a global player in such business lines of glass production as flat glass, glassware, glass packaging, automotive glass, glass fibre, as well as soda ash and chrome chemicals. Şişecam is among the top five in the world in the production of glass packages and flat glass.
Purchasing of JSC Mina is the first foreign investment of Şişecam  implemented outside Turkey, which was made in 1997. The enterprise is located in Shida Kartli region. For 26 years, in the background of regional and world crises, JSC Mina, with the support of Şişecam Holding, continues to work smoothly. At this point, 240 people are employed in the enterprise, most of them are from nearby villages. In addition, JSC Mina is constantly hires over 100 people on part-time jobs.

In the production process, JSC Mina uses raw materials and materials obtained from local natural resources, thereby contributing to the development of local enterprises.

The company has over 24000 employees with international operations and 88 years of experience. Its manufacturing operations cover 14 countries on four continents with 45 branches and sales in 150 countries.
