Mariam Kvrivishvili Met with State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Sven Giegold

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with the State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Sven Giegold, who visited Tbilisi with a delegation of German private companies.

At the meeting held in the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the parties discussed important issues of economic cooperation between the two countries, including in the fields of tourism, trade and investments.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Georgian side presented an extensive presentation works to receive the guests, which reviewed in detail the investment environment of Georgia, economic indicators, dynamics of restoration/development of tourism and aviation, small and medium business promotion programs, export promotion mechanisms, Georgia’s positions in international rankings, etc.

Mariam Kvrivishvili noted that Georgia highly values partnership, close and active cooperation with Germany over the years. According to the Deputy Minister, the government’s economic policy, reforms, state business promotion programs and various activities are aimed at ensuring that Georgia constantly maintains an attractive investment environment and is interesting, including for German businesses, whose representatives had the opportunity to receive maximum information on issues of interest to them during the meeting. The Deputy Minister once again emphasized the main goal of Georgia’s foreign policy - joining the European Union and the need to continue relevant reforms in this regard.

At the meeting, it was said that the fruitful economic cooperation between Georgia and Germany is developing every year, as evidenced by statistical indicators: in 2023, Germany was in 4th place in the number of direct foreign investments in Georgia, and according to the data of the 1st quarter of 2024, the number of visitors from Germany was by 48% higher compared to the same period of the previous year.

The increasing dynamics in the field of aviation was also highlighted: in the January-February of 2024, the number of passengers carried by direct regular flights between Georgia and Germany amounted to 64,2% higher number compared to the number of passengers carried in the same period of 2023, while in 2023, by 83,2% more passengers were transported than in 2022.
