"The role of women in the economy of the country is very large, the high growth of our economy and the potential in this regard is an important factor for us to have a higher activity of women in business and employment" – the First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili stated at the meeting organized by the business federation Women for Tomorrow.

Levan Davitashvili introduced his vision to the participants of the event regarding the increasing the role of women in the economic life of Georgia. He also spoke about the existing support mechanisms in this regard and the intensification of their effectiveness. As the Minister of Economy noted, one of the urgent issues is the employment of women, since there is a certain imbalance in the country – women's labour is not fully used and their involvement in economic activities is insufficient.

"From this point of view, our visions in terms of priorities completely coincide, and our attitude and desire is to support women in this regard. We also support legislative initiatives that strengthen the role of women and are aimed at their promotion. Frequent communication is also important in this process, we are ready to have more working meetings," – Levan Davitashvili said.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Irakli Nadareishvili also participated in the event, who informed women entrepreneurs about the progress of the capital market reform. Speakers at the event also talked about a wide range of issues related to the business sector, including the main economic indicators and forecasts, investment promotion policy, the progress of large infrastructure projects, business sectoral development directions and mechanisms for supporting women entrepreneurs in this process.

The First Vice Prime Minister highlighted the high rate of economic growth during the last 3 years will be maintained in 2024. According to Levan Davitashvili, the government expects that economic growth in the mid-term will exceed the forecast of the International Monetary Fund. He also spoke about the main economic priorities of the government, including the work on large infrastructure projects and the acceleration of structural reforms that are in line with the priorities of the European Union.

"We had a high economic growth during the last 3 years, our expectations are quite optimistic this year as well, which probably you, the entrepreneurs, feel well yourself. According to the International Monetary Fund, the future medium-term growth forecast equals to 5,2%. I must point out that such forecasts are always conservative, and we are also conservative in our planning. However, our task is to make the economic growth higher than this rate. We also want it to be inclusive, to include many directions, to cover many areas and, accordingly, to concern broad layers of society," – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development explained.
