Georgia-Saudi Arabia Business Forum was opened in Tbilisi by the welcoming speech of the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili and the Head of the Saudi Arabian delegation, Minister of Investments Khalid Al-Falih.

About 300 delegates attended the event, including a wide range of representatives of governmental and business circles of Georgia and Saudi Arabia.

“It is our priority to strengthen relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – one of the leading countries in the Gulf and the wider Arab world. In recent years, including last year, we have maintained a growing trend both in bilateral trade as well as in investments from Saudi Arabia. Additionally, in order to further promote investments from Saudi Arabia, Georgia expresses readiness to actively work on Bilateral Investment Treaty between the two countries,” – Levan Davitashvili stated in his speech.

The First Vice Prime Minister introduced the members of the Saudi Arabian delegation to the current economic trends and investment climate in Georgia, as well as provided the information about the ongoing major infrastructure projects, including the Anaklia Deep Sea Port and the Black Sea Submarine Power Cable.

As Levan Davitashvili mentioned, the B2B meetings of the two countries planned within the framework of the forum will serve as an excellent opportunity to get comprehensive information about the investment opportunities in Georgia. According to him, in this regard, the joint business council established by the chambers of two countries last October is of outmost importance, which created an ideal framework for the business of both countries to establish ties and work on new projects.

“Our country, positioned at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, offers a unique blend of opportunities that makes it a compelling destination for investors and businesses alike. We are committed to fostering a climate of economic growth and stability, and have implemented a wide-range of reforms spanning from enhancing the ease of doing business to reducing the tax burden. Today Georgia is an investment destination where lower costs are matched with reduced risks, an unrivalled business climate, availability of green energy, and free trade access to global markets of over 2,3 billion in population,” – the First Vice Prime Minister noted.

During the Forum, the representatives of the business sector of Saudi Arabia had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the presentation of the investment environment and opportunities of Georgia, which was presented to them by the Director of the Enterprise Georgia Agency, Mikheil Khidureli.

In addition, the representatives of the two countries exchanged memoranda of mutual cooperation in the direction of agriculture, energy and cultural relations.

Panel discussions on investment opportunities in the tourism and real estate sectors were held within the framework of the Forum. The participants of the event discussed the potential of Georgia as a transport, logistics and energy hub.

“Georgia’s commitment to being a diversified and modern economy align well with Saudi Arabia's vision of the future, presenting opportunities for ventures in green energy, tourism, transportation, and other sectors. Georgia is open for business, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunities that our partnership with Saudi Arabia will bring” – Levan Davitashvili concluded.
